Co-Extrusion & Fabrication

In addition to our extensive extrusion capabilities, Petro Extrusion offers full fabrication capabilities in the areas of cutting to close tolerance lengths, drilling, punching, printing, and finishing. This is a sample of our custom plastic extrusion services.

Advantages of Co-Extrusion for Complex Applications

Co-extrusion allows for the integration of multiple materials into a single profile or tube, delivering enhanced performance and design flexibility. This process is ideal for:
• Combining rigid and flexible zones within the same part
• Creating dual-color profiles for branding or visual identification
• Adding surface overlays for gloss, texture, or impact resistance
• Producing multi-layered tubing for fluid transfer, insulation, or containment

Whether you’re designing a component for industrial machinery, packaging, or consumer products, co-extrusion offers a solution to meet complex requirements.

Precision Fabrication for Production-Ready Parts

Petro’s fabrication services are designed to deliver production-ready parts with minimal post-processing. Our capabilities include:
• High-precision cutting for tight tolerance applications
• Custom hole and slot configurations for mounting or fluid flow
• In-line printing for branding, labeling, or traceability
• Tape application for assembly, sealing, or adhesion

These services reduce your need for secondary vendors and help accelerate your product’s time to market.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Materials Can Be Used in Co-Extrusion?

We can co-extrude a wide range of thermoplastics, including TPR, PVC, ABS, polycarbonate, and acrylic, in compatible combinations.

Can You Produce Dual-Color Profiles or Tubes?

Yes, we regularly manufacture profiles and tubing with dual-color configurations for branding, identification, or aesthetic purposes.

Do You Offer Fabrication for Flexible Materials?

We do. Our equipment can cut, punch, and drill flexible materials like polyethylene, polypropylene, and layflat tubing with precision.

Is Printing Available for Custom Profiles?

Yes, we offer in-line inkjet printing for most materials, as well as tape application for added functionality.

Co-Extrusion

We’ve been developing co-extruded tubes and profiles for over 30 years. No one can better provide gloss finishes, impact-resistant surfaces, or multiple tube extrusions like Petro. Requests for dual colors or materials are not unusual and always accommodated. We’ve been developing co-extruded tubes and profiles for over 30 years. Fabrication

Cutting

Petro offers custom cut-to-length capability for rigid and flexible materials. Our wafer-cutting equipment can slice tubes into washers as thin as .090″.  We also offer secondary cutting to tolerances as close as +/- .010″ on short or long-length parts (up to 20″ lengths).

We can even cut lay-flat tubing into short lengths if needed.

Drilling & Punching

We can punch or drill most hole or slot configurations in flexible or rigid materials, such as Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate, Nylon, Rigid PVC, ABS and the most rigid thermoplastics we extrude.

Printing

In-line inkjet printing is available for most materials, as well as tape application capabilities for most profile shapes.
